The Avengers #1 - “We Stand at Armageddon!”

Part of the second release of Marvel editions published by Washington Green and hand-signed by the late great Stan Lee, who designed all of the classic Marvel comic-book characters back in the 60's, this superb giclée print on paper was one of only four covers specially selected by Stan Lee for a fine art portfolio to feature 'The Avengers'.

Comes signed and numbered, with the original certificate of authenticity from Washington Green.

The cover art was done by Sal Buscema and Sam Grainger, with the internal storylines written by Roy Thomas, pencilled by Barry Windsor-Smith, inked by George Klein, and lettered by Artie Simek.

Backstory:

Continuing from last issue, Ultron-6 has just been resurrected by the Vision inside Avengers Mansion, the resulting attack causes an explosion. Even with the combined efforts of Thor, Iron Man, Goliath, Yellowjacket, Black Panther, the Wasp and Vision (who is now free from Ultron's influence), the robot manages to defeat Earth's mightiest heroes and makes a quick escape, to plot the total destruction of mankind.

Seeking to make up for betraying the Avengers, the Vision follows Ultron back to his base to learn the robots plot: It's attempting to destroy New York City in a giant nuclear explosion. Soon, the Vision is joined by the Avengers who take the sidelines while the Vision battles his creation. However the battle is lost because of the untimely intervention of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents (who are tracking the Adamantium which Ultron's body is constructed of) arrive and stun the Vision, allowing Ultron to escape, leaving the Avengers to deal with the device set to destroy the whole city.

Glazing

Select from either Perspex® Clear Cast (a lightweight, shatter-resistant, economical option), conservation grade Artshield UV or a superior Optium Museum Acrylic® - both are ultra clear, scratch-resistant, and provide protection by filtering out harmful UV light that can damage and fade works over time. Optium Museum Acrylic® is also anti-reflective.
