A limited edition giclée on paper of 295 signed by Marvel Comics legend, Stan Lee.
Cover artists: John Buscema and Frank Giacola (July 1968)
The Avengers - King-Size Special #2: “And Time, the Rushing River”
Part of the second release of Marvel editions published by Washington Green and hand-signed by the late great Stan Lee, who designed all of the classic Marvel comic-book characters back in the 60's, this superb giclée print on paper was one of only four covers specially selected by Stan Lee for a fine art portfolio to feature 'The Avengers'.
Comes signed and numbered, with the original certificate of authenticity from Washington Green.
The cover art was done by John Buscema, Frank Giacoia and Sam Rosen, with the internal storylines written by Roy Thomas, pencilled by Don Heck, Werner Roth and John Buscema, inked by Vince Colletta and Bill Everett, and lettered by Joe Rosen and Artie Simek.
Backstory:
Returning from their adventure back in time to World War 2 (using Dr. Doom's time machine) the Avengers find that their headquarters look oddly different. Entering the briefing room they come face to face with the original Avengers: Iron Man, Thor, Giant-Man, Wasp, and the Hulk, triggering a confused battle.
Later, they learn that the new Avengers had in the past been convinced (following a visit from the Scarlet Centurion) to alter the future by going on a mission to capture all super-beings, declare control of the world and usher in a golden era of peace. In this new timeline the world has effectively been turned into a dictatorship, so the group decides to correct the divergence they made in time by activating the time machine. However, when they learn that it has been disassembled and its parts spread out around the city, the Avengers split into groups to find each part and bring order to the chaos.
All our wooden frames are expertly hand-made from locally sourced FSC® certified timber.
Colour
Our quality, tulip wood frames come with a solid, hand-sprayed finish in either Black or White, or Natural Oak with a wax finish.
Mount Style
Select either Full Bleed (flush to the edge), Floating, or Window Mount (using 100% pure cotton, archival, acid-free mount board).
Glazing
Select from either Perspex® Clear Cast (a lightweight, shatter-resistant, economical option), conservation grade Artshield UV or a superior Optium Museum Acrylic® - both are ultra clear, scratch-resistant, and provide protection by filtering out harmful UV light that can damage and fade works over time. Optium Museum Acrylic® is also anti-reflective.
