A limited edition giclée on paper of 100 signed by Marvel Comics legend, Stan Lee.
Cover artist: Gil Kane, Dave Cockrum, Dan Crespi (May 1975)
Giant-Size X-Men - Vol 1 #1: “Deadly Genesis!”
Part of the original first release of Marvel editions published by Washington Green and hand-signed by the late great Stan Lee, who designed all of the classic Marvel comic-book characters back in the 60's, this superb giclée print on paper was one of only six covers specially curated by Stan Lee for a fine art portfolio featuring a selection of arguably the most timeless characters: 'The Amazing Spiderman', 'The Incredible Hulk', 'The Invincible Iron Man', 'The Avengers', 'X-men', and 'The Silver Surfer'.
Comes signed and numbered, with the original certificate of authenticity from Washington Green.
The cover artwork was done by Gil Kane, Dave Cockrum and Danny Crespi, with the internal story written by Len Wein, pencilled by Dave Cockrum, inked by Cockrum and Peter Iro, coloured by Glynis Wein and lettered by John Costanza.
Backstory:
In Winzeldorf, Germany, an angry mob rages through the streets in search of a monster: the mutant Kurt Wagner (Nightcrawler). Kurt pleads that he only wants to be left alone, but the hysterical mob attack and overwhelm him through sheer numbers. Suddenly, the whole mob literally freezes in their tracks, subdued by Professor Charles Xavier’s telepathy. Xavier offers Kurt refuge at his school, which is a haven for mutants. Kurt asks if the Professor can make him normal, but he responds by asking if, after that night, he truly wants to be normal (i.e., like his persecutors) and Kurt accepts the Professor’s invitation.
Xavier also visits and recruits the mutant referred to as Weapon X, better known as Wolverine, Banshee, Storm, Sunfire, Colossus and Thunderbird back to the school where he introduces them to Cyclops.
They then proceed to assault the entity known as Krakoa.
All our wooden frames are expertly hand-made from locally sourced FSC® certified timber.
Colour
Our quality, tulip wood frames come with a solid, hand-sprayed finish in either Black or White, or Natural Oak with a wax finish.
Mount Style
Select either Full Bleed (flush to the edge), Floating, or Window Mount (using 100% pure cotton, archival, acid-free mount board).
Glazing
Select from either Perspex® Clear Cast (a lightweight, shatter-resistant, economical option), conservation grade Artshield UV or a superior Optium Museum Acrylic® - both are ultra clear, scratch-resistant, and provide protection by filtering out harmful UV light that can damage and fade works over time. Optium Museum Acrylic® is also anti-reflective.
