Oddly Head is the alter ego of artist, designer and publisher Tim Fishlock. After graduating from Goldsmiths’ College he began his career by making large-scale artworks for Thomas Heatherwick Studio, by the late nineties gaining commissions to design and fabricate art installations for PR companies and luxury retailers. A restless soul, Tim changed tack and went to work for The Partners where he worked on a number of award winning graphic design and branding projects. Gong solo in 2008 he set up Tim Fishlock Studio, working on a variety of multidisciplinary design projects before going on to Oddly Head at the beginning of 2014. Since then he has produced several volumes of his art publishing project 50by70, produced prints for the London Transport Museum and Paul Smith, made and installed a number of his WhatWatt? chandeliers, and created an award winning app and children’s book alongside former executive producer of the Simpsons and Futurama Josh Weinstein - a body of work that is as fascinating as it is accomplished. Using an ingenious blend of collage and lithography to maximum effect, Oddly Head comments on our societies relentless pressure to consume, and our increasingly unnatural attitude to food production and in his Hollywood series, touches on the creatively impoverished, morally hollow world of Hollywood. “Living in an era when the concept of recycling is key to anything approaching a sustainable future for our species, it feels apposite to re-use and repurpose existing imagery. I’ve listened to hip-hop most of my life and so that idea of making something fresh out of something old really chimes with me. Also, I love the two disciplines involved in collage – the research and the arrangement. It’s all hugely time-consuming and thus hugely absorbing.”
