Mysterious Al

Mysterious Al is a contemporary artist and illustrator from London, who rose to fame in the early 2000’s alongside friend and contemporary D*Face, when he co-founded the now world-renowned 'Finders Keepers Crew' - a collective of young outsider artists who gained international notoriety for their wall paintings, paste-ups and illegal street installations, inadvertently finding themselves at the forefront of the burgeoning street art movement. Mysterious Al first became known in 2002 with the release of 'Stick 'em up', a book showcasing sticker-related street-art from around the world. Further books, publications and exhibitions followed, and over the next few years, he would go on to exhibit in galleries across the world, collaborating with several high profile brands. Al’s work is full of dark yet playful, other worldly creatures, monsters, mutants and sub-humans. His latest works are heavily influenced by Mesoamerican deities and ancient tribal masks, reimagined in wild, vibrant colours and experiment with ideas of spirituality, humanity and immortality. His striking, satirical and often morbid work commands an underground, yet global cult following among avid collectors. "There’s a lot of spontaneity in my work, and I love the idea of having something that seems so carefree leave the studio and become treasured, on display, perhaps out-living me. Lasting forever”.
